Send Me Sunlight

from Happier Year by Antlerhead

about

Idk. I wrote this in math class when I was 18...

lyrics

I'm almost fresh out of compassion
cuz unlike you I'm not so kind and old fashion.
I used to know love but I broke up with God
cuz I gave him my heart but in fractions.
What did he expect? I am not made of magic.

I could be gentle. I could be a man
but instead I take pills to control who I am.
Beasts hide from daylight in shadows unseen.
and as God fights beside me the devil sings
"Give in to me."

I used to know love and it's power
but I sold it cheap in it's most needed hour.
Lucifer's tune it's way to my ears.
Now I'm somehow a part of his choir.
My body's still here but my soul was devoured!

Everybody knows
Love comes from sunlight.
In shadows, sin resides.
If then God is love
and God is light,
God has no shadow.

Make me be gentle. Make me a man.
Physically make me surrender my hands.
Send me the sunlight where shadows are seen
and as Satan sings melodies
Deafen my ears.
